Madison Square Garden - Josiah McElhiney
Prismatic Park, Josiah McElhiney
Madison Square Park
June 14 – October 8, 2017
A site-specific interactive installation by Josiah McElhiney, commissioned by Madison Square Park Conservancy. The piece consists of four elements: three structures made of prismatic glass which serve as platforms for interaction with dancers, musicians, and poets, and the collaborators. Three art non-profit organizations - Blank Forms, Danspace Project, and Poets House will curate new and exciting works. Look out for a free weekly poster available in the Park. When not occupied by resident artists, the public can access the exhibition as a platform for their own creativity.
According to McElhiney, “The piece asks the question of whether or not art can increase a kind of democratic engagement of human beings within a city environment.”
